Weekly collection
Public Works collects residential trash and recycling once a week. The city is split into five zones, one per weekday. Put containers out the evening before your day. Enter your address in Recycle Coach to see your schedule.
One bulk item per week can go out with regular trash. Refrigerators, freezers, Freon appliances, and tires (up to 8 per household a year) must be called in before your pickup day.
The city's 1887 train station, now served by Amtrak's Keystone Service (Philadelphia and New York) and the Pennsylvanian (Pittsburgh), plus intercity buses.
Local bus routes in Harrisburg and the surrounding area, formerly Capital Area Transit (CAT), now run by the Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority. One pass works across the whole system.
